Church Commits to Dormitory in North India
A new opportunity for LPGM in North India has also become a new opportunity for St. Philip the Deacon congregation in Plymouth, Minnesota. The congregation has recently approved a grant of $150,000 from its current capital funds drive to build a dormitory for 80 tribal boys at the Don Bosco School in Dumka, the headquarters of the Northern Evangelical Lutheran Church. This is the fourth major project St. Philip the Deacon has funded through LPGM. Pastor David Hoffman, in announcing this gift, wrote, “For your information, our capital appeal has exceeded our goal in less than a month–I have little doubt that the several mission components of the appeal make a difference.” This is another example of a congregation committed to sharing both in its regular offerings and in larger capital appeals. Thank you, Pastor David and St. Philip the Deacon!

The dormitory in Dumka is the first phase of a 5-phase project designed by MSAADA Architects. If your congregation is interested in helping with additional phases of this project that include a girls’ dormitory and various additions to the school building, please contact LPGM. Additional phases are estimated to cost between $80,000 and $130,000.
