Anxious Feelings Melt
The devotion for January 23rd began with John 15: 9-17. As the father has loved me, so have I loved you … This is my command: Love one another.
Today we traveled to visit the home of my son Matthew’s sponsored child, Prakish. Our journey, in a van, included tumbling down a small dirt road with oxen drawn carts and past homes with thatched roofs. Finally, we came to a tiny village where the family lives. The reception included visiting with the family and a gathering of neighbors. Tea was served along with numerous sweets. The parents had missed at least a whole day of work to host us! They were so kind and gracious, I felt blessed and most grateful.
The journey to India began with anxious feelings. It is difficult to observe a different culture, especially one with extreme poverty. But our sisters and brothers in India welcomed us with such hospitality, it would be a privilege to return anytime.
