Gordon’s journey to the Central African Republic was in November 2012
We flew into Bangui, where Betty and I were met by very welcoming folks at St. Timothy Church, which is adjacent to the airport. We were greeted with great enthusiasm by members of the church and the choirs, and a worship service was scheduled on a weekday because we were there. How great to revisit this congregation that has been such an integral part of our experience. This was Betty’s first trip back in twenty years.
It happens that I also spent a few hours at St. Timothy on the day before I was to leave–the day before Thanksgiving. That was the day relative to Thanksgiving that Tim died 21 years ago. That day I had a chance to meet with the leaders and Pastor Paul Denou of St. Timothy to discuss some of their future dreams. It is good to see them dream and to be a part of that ministry as well.
