PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate Release

Minneapolis, MN (July 31, 2017) — LPGM is pleased to introduce Dan Ruth as LPGM’s new executive director beginning August 21. Dan brings a unique balance of mission focus, analytical depth, and steadiness to LPGM. Adaptable in changing environments and experienced working with diverse stakeholders in the nonprofit sector, Dan will lead LPGM in its 22nd year and oversee its global ministry efforts in C.A.R., India, and Guatemala.

Dan shared the following as a brief introduction to his professional experiences and excitement for his new role: “I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you, because of your sharing in the gospel from the first day until now.” – Philippians 1

It is a deep honor and privilege to join Lutheran Partners in Global Ministry. There is great opportunity ahead of us to broaden and deepen the transformative work that LPGM is already doing. I can’t wait to get started!

After seven years in communications, fundraising and marketing at Lutheran World Relief, I bring a range of experiences seeing and showing Lutherans in the U.S. how God is at work in the wider world. My past experience in pastoral ministry has focused on bringing together people from all walks of life to be able to honestly talk about faith, doubt and the missio dei (mission of God). I am excited to bring my experience in international development, digital communications, my passion for public speaking, and my thirst for ever greater learning to LPGM.

Dan received a B.A. in Psychology with a concentration in Women’s Studies from St. Olaf College in Northfield MN. He received a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary in St. Paul MN, where he was the winner of the 2008 A.E. Hansen Prize in Homiletics. His focus in seminary was on urban ministry, poverty and intercultural theology.

Since June 2010, Dan worked as an Associate Director, Interactive Marketing, at Lutheran World Relief. He was the Pastor of Urban Outreach at Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park MN from 2009 – 2011. He has also worked on the online learning content for Luther Seminary, fulfilled the role of Coverage Pastor at Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Harlem NY, and managed the marketing and communications strategy for Girls on the Run Twin Cities.

LPGM officially welcomes Dan to the organization on August 21, 2017 and looks forward to advancing current and future global ministry efforts under his leadership.
