LPGM is seeking an International Program Manager

The International Program Manager (henceforth “program manager”) is responsible for the coordination, partnerships and evaluation of all international programs of the organization. Working with the executive director, the program manager assesses needs and ensures that program objectives are met, tracks and reports on program impact, including outcomes, activities and financial transfers and payments.

The program manager also coordinates communication and manages other strategies to strengthen the relationships between Project Education India sponsors and their assigned students. In addition, the program manager coordinates Transformational Travel experiences for groups.

This includes managing strategies, communications, logistics, and training leaders for successful travel.

Job Specifications

Work Direction: This position reports to the Executive Director and follows organization policies, procedures and compliance regulations. The work is self-directed and often in collaboration with other staff as defined by the Executive Director.

Accountability: The accuracy and timeliness of overseas payments and program data input has a major impact on the integrity of the organization’s systems. The person in this position must be trustworthy, transparent and ethical. In addition, this position has access to confidential information. A high degree of discretion must be used with employee and donor data. The incumbent should always be looking for ways to improve office processes.

Work Relationships: This position requires regular contact with all members of staff as well as partners, constituents and donors. Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner, resolve outstanding issues, and assist wherever and whenever it is necessary.

Major and Essential Job Responsibilities

Program Management & Evaluation

  • Coordinate with international partners in the Central African Republic, Guatemala, Tanzania and India.
  • Maintain program records and reports, including program descriptions, intended outcomes and progress reports; program proposals and approved budgets; projected vs. actual funding; currency exchange details; and communication with partners and program participants.
  • Request payments to global partners based upon agreed upon budgets and schedules.
  • Manage program evaluations to ensure program objectives are met; document and measure impact on participants; help strengthen partners’ monitoring and evaluation capacity; and learn from insights and improve strategies.
  • Act as primary staff liaison to the Program Committee as an ex-officio member. •
  • International travel as necessary (2-3 trips annually) to nurture and maintain relationships, manage programs and accountability, and transact business.

Sponsorship Coordination

  • Manage sponsorship program (Project Education India), including communication and coordination with LPGM India office, boarding homes and partner church bodies.
  • Prepare timely documentation in accordance with partners, including Memoranda of Understanding, wire transfers, budgets and agreements.
  • In collaboration with Development Director, analyze, maintain and revise, as necessary, all Project Education India communication, letters and other pieces of sponsor communication ensuring clear, accurate information and appropriate language is included in the content.
  • Receives all sponsor related documents generated in India (child history forms, annual progress reports, photos, letters to sponsors).
  • Manage database, lists and files of students actively in the sponsorship program, in collaboration with staff in India.
  • Communicates with India office staff and Board Home managers to clarify questions, make requests, or enforce agreed upon policies and procedures.

Transformational Travel & Other Experiences

  • Coordinates LPGM’s Transformational Travel program that brings groups overseas to meet, learn from, and be transformed by our international partners. This includes pre-trip orientation, trip logistics, and post-trip follow-up.
  • Works with the Communications Coordinator to market travel opportunities and recruit travelers.
  • Coordinates with partners to plan itineraries, book accommodations and transportation, and manage logistics.
  • Manages training of trip leaders, ensuring they have the knowledge and resources to successfully lead groups.
  • May lead travel groups as needed.
  • Manages other domestic transformational experiences, so that constituents who may never travel still have multicultural learning opportunities.
  • Acts as a staff liaison to the Transformation & Travel Committee as an ex officio member.

Administrative Tasks

  • Acts in the absence of the Finance & Office Administrator to record donations, make deposits, communicate with donors and create financial reports as required.
  • Shared organizational administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls, responding to email in the general email inbox (office@lutheranpartners.org), and other donor communication.
  • Contributes content for organizational marketing and communication.

Job Qualifications

Education:

A four-year degree in project management/related field or equivalent experience.

Experience:

A minimum of five-seven years managing or coordinating programs, especially internationally. Strong organizational skills and ability to track details across various programs a deadlines is essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.), email, SharePoint, and the internet is essential. Ability and willingness to learn DonorPerfect & GiveCloud database software is required.

Foreign Languages:

Ability to speak or read French, Spanish, Tamil, Sangho, Q’eqchi’, or Swahili is helpful but not required. (Listed in descending order of priority.)

Physical, Mental or Other:

This position requires the ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team, the ability to prioritize work assignments, the ability to multi-task, the willingness to perform general office tasks outside the boundaries of this job description.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range starts at $50,000 per year, but is negotiable based on qualifications and experience. A full benefits package is available, including health and dental insurance, and matching SIMPLE IRA retirement benefits.
