Arcot Lutheran Church Leaders to Visit Minnesota

Three representatives of the Arcot Lutheran Church (ALC) in Tamil Nadu, India (the southeasternmost state) are visiting. The ALC was founded by Danish missionaries in the 19th Century as a ministry to Dalit (formerly "Untouchable") people in South India.

Run by Dalit Indians since 1961, the ALC has a long tradition of investing in education for marginalized people. Through Project Education India, LPGM sponsors have provided quality education at ALC-run boarding schools to more than 8,000 students since 1997.

They will arrive in the Twin Cities on the morning of Saturday, September 20, and depart on Thursday, September 25, to visit church partners in Illinois.

The visitors are:

  • The Rt. Rev. Dr. D. Peter Paul Thomas, ALC Bishop
  • Rev. D. Thangadurai, ALC treasurer and former manager of the Kalrayan Hills boarding homes
  • Rev. Theophilus Vinodkumar, bishop's chaplain and former pastor at Siloam congregation
