Overcoming Fear on the Road to Nursing

Kalrayan Hills graduates Saranya & Biruntharani are working towards their Diplomas in General Nursing and Midwifery at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. Currently in their first year of the three-year program, they are learning how to give injections, set drips, do dressings, and administer medication.

When they enrolled last November, adjusting to their new lives proved challenging. The college is an 8-hour bus ride from their home village, and they had never taken the bus alone before starting college. They share, "Staying far from parents was difficult and frightening."

However, they persevered through the challenges and began to thrive in this new setting. They explain, "Initially, it was difficult. But wearing the uniform and going to the hospital made us feel proud. Patients trust us and approach us with confidence."

They continue, "Earlier, we used to go to hospitals as patients. Now, we are the ones giving injections. That itself feels very special and proud."

This opportunity for growth and learning wouldn't be possible without the support they received from LPGM friends like you.

"LPGM has provided ₹37,500 ($398) to each of us. Without this support, our education would have been impossible. Our fathers are farmers, income is limited, and loans are pending. This support helped us continue our studies."
