LPGM Supporters Help Complete Solar Water Heater Project Ahead of Busy Season
Earlier this year, Community Cloud Forest Conservation (CCFC) asked LPGM for support completing a solar water heater project. Having solar water heaters would allow Women in Agroecology Leadership for Conservation (WALC) program participants to take hot showers, and it would help CCFC’s cooking staff conserve firewood and cook meals more efficiently.
A few generous supporters agreed to meet this need, and LPGM International Program Manager Laura Feile saw the new solar water heaters in action when she visited CCFC in July. According to CCFC co-founder Rob Cahill, the new heaters are saving about 90 minutes of cooking time each morning of the WALC session.

Head cook Landy smiled as she remarked, “The water is now so hot!” She shared that the cooking team previously woke up at 4:00 a.m. to start breakfast preparations. With the new solar water heaters, the team now gets extra sleep and has more time to relax after dinner in the evenings.
Thank you to our supporters for improving the quality of life for the CCFC cooking team and WALC participants!
