I live and go school in the Kalrayan Hills in Tamil Nadu, India. Owned and operated by the Arcot Lutheran Church — an Indian, Dalit-led church body in the state of Tamil Nadu — the boarding homes here serve very poor, rural, mostly indigenous students. Many families in these hills rely on subsistence farming, or have to travel far away from home to find low-wage labor.

My favorite activity is playing Goli. Goli (or Goti) is a marbles game popular in South India. It requires a player to hit the selected target marble using his/her own marble ball. The winner of the game walks away with all the marbles of the other players.

I am an indigenous person in India. Also called "Adivasi", "Scheduled Tribe", or "Tribal" in India, indigenous people were some of the earliest inhabitants of the Indian subcontinent, and have been historically marginalized and oppressed.
